Helping children learn about the world around them and the environment helps provide a good basis for early childhood education. Learning about the seasons helps children understand the passage of time and teaches them about change. Young children are usually keen to learn and improve their understanding of the world around them and the chance to gain new knowledge can be incorporated into a variety of activities.
Besides the weather cooling down, autumn is a fun-filled time of year that means pumpkins are ready for harvesting, the trees around us are changing, and there are many festivals and events to get us outdoors!
If you’re looking for practical ideas to help you explore the many different aspects of autumn and make learning about the seasons fun for your children we’ve teamed up with childminder, Chloe Webster – of Pebbles Childcare – to bring you ‘The Autumn Early Years Activity Guide’, which includes 20 Autumnal Activity Ideas.
This easy-to-follow resource is laid out in a recipe-book format – with ‘what you’ll need’ and the ‘method’ – and aims to inspire early years practitioners and parents with fun-filled activities, that are perfect for facilitating children’s learning throughout Autumn.
